Member Of Commission III Of The House Of Representatives Asks Police To Take Strict Action On Ormas Sweeping Warung During Ramadan

JAKARTA - Member of Commission III of the DPR Abdullah regretted the sweeping of stalls carried out by community organizations (Ormas). He asked the police to take firm action against groups who carried out raids on places to eat during Ramadan.

Abdullah emphasized that all citizens must comply with the rules that have been set in Indonesia as a state of law. He reminded that no one should play the law on their own by conducting raids.

"Moreover, the raid was carried out in a rude manner, slamming the table and throwing a drinking place. It was an act of playing the law on its own," Abdullah said, Thursday, March 13.

The PKB legislator from the Central Java electoral district emphasized that mass organizations do not have the authority to conduct raids, let alone sweep food stalls during Ramadan. Moreover, the raid was carried out in harsh and arrogant ways.

Abdullah said the local government had regulated the operation of restaurants during Ramadan. If there are violations committed by restaurant entrepreneurs, he said, the public can report to the party responsible.

"Don't play with the law yourself by conducting raids. Please just report it to the relevant parties. We all have to prioritize tolerance towards others," he said.

According to Abdullah, if there are places to eat that are still open during Ramadan, it does not mean that they violate the rules. Because, not everyone fasts during Ramadan. For example, non-Muslims, pregnant women, small children, parents, and other groups.

"So, we must be tolerant and obey the existing rules. If there is a violation, leave it to the authorities," he said.

If there are still mass organizations that carry out sweeping, Abdullah asks the police to take firm action against the mass organizations. The police, he said, could secure and examine the mass organizations because they had disturbed public order.

"When the mass organizations are left alone, they will arbitrarily carry out raids and spread terror to other parties. Of course, this should not be allowed. For this reason, the police must act quickly and decisively," he said.

"The act of taking justice itself should not be allowed. The police have the authority to bring it to order," Abdullah concluded.

Previously, it was reported that a group of mass organizations conducted a raid on a shop in Garut, West Java. The action was then criticized by various parties because it was carried out in a rude manner, shouted, kicked the table, and threw glasses.
