Toyota GR Yaris's Future Car Will Use A Hybrid System, Use A 2.0 Liter Engine?
Toyota has confirmed that it is preparing a new hybrid driving system for the Gazoo Racing (GR) lineup or cars that focus on high performance.
GR Project General Manager, Hiroyuki Yamada said his party opened the possibility of this by utilizing a 2.0 liter machine present at the Yaris M concept at the Tokyo Auto Salon exhibition earlier this year.
"We can use the hybrid for future cars that have this engine and use it in racing activities in the future, because it has low emissions," Yamada said as quoted by Autocar, Thursday, March 13.
Tentu ini merupakan kabar baik bagi pelanggan dan penggemar GR di seluruh dunia, terutama Eropa yang memiliki regulasi ketat terhadap emisi berkcarbon.
This latest engine can support both plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and mid-hybrid (MHEV) drivers and is said to have shorter piston steps than today's Toyota engines.
This is important because hybrid elements can be installed with light weight, so without reducing the actual performance of the car.

The technical details of the engine have not been disclosed by Toyota, but reports suggest that the output will reach around 400 cellphones for highway cars.
It is estimated that the machine can be present at the second generation of GR Yaris in the future, replacing the current engine, which is 3-cylinder 1.6 liters powered by 300 hp.
Toyota UK President and Managing Director Scott Thompson emphasized that Britain is an important market for them because a number of consumers want high-performance cars like the GR ranks.
What GR has presented in Europe is amazing. What's more, we have GR Yaris in demand in the market," Thompson explained.
Of course, the steps taken by Toyota are in line with their vision in the multi-pathway' strategy, which is to present various vehicles for consumer needs consisting of ICE, Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV), Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV), to fuel cells (FCEV).
