Make Sure The KRI Naggala Is Cracked, Kasal: If The Explosion Is, It Must Have Been Heard On The Sonar Detection Tool

JAKARTA - The Chief of Naval Staff (Kasal) Admiral TNI Yudo Margono conveyed that the KRI Nanggala-402 submarine may have cracked while ensuring that the ship did not explode.

"Cracks, not explosions," said TNI Admiral Yudo Margono when answering journalists' questions about the possible condition of the KRI Nanggala-402 during a press conference at the Base Ops Lanud I Gusti Ngurah Rai, Bali, Saturday, April 24, reported by Era.id.

He explained that the cracks in the submarine may have occurred gradually in certain parts.

"Because of the cracks, so gradually in certain parts, when the submarine begins to descend, this must occur in phases ranging from a depth of 300 meters, 400 meters, to 500 meters," said Kasal explained.

On that occasion, Kasal emphasized that the submarine did not explode. "If there is an explosion, it will definitely be heard on the sonar detection device. It will definitely be heard if it is an explosion," said TNI Admiral Yudo Margono emphasized.

On that occasion, Kasal hoped that the crew of the KRI Nanggala-402 would be able to prevent water from entering when the ship experienced a crack.

This is because the main challenge when the submarine starts to crack is the entry of water into the ship's parts.

Yudo said there was a possibility that the crew could save themselves, considering that the submarine was divided into rooms that were limited by bulkheads so that each one was watertight when tightly closed.

"There are cabins where water cannot enter. Inside the submarine there are also closed barriers so that water does not enter. If the cracks are in front, members may have closed, there is a possibility that the water may not enter there," Yudo explained. assumptions regarding the condition of the ship.

KRI Nanggala-402 lost contact on Wednesday (21/4) at around 03.00 WITA. If the ship is in a blackout state (total power failure), oxygen will only be available until Saturday (24/4) at 03.00 WITA.

However, if the electricity is still on, it is possible that the oxygen capacity in the ship will be available for up to 5 days and will run out approximately on Monday, April 26th.

So far, the search for KRI Nanggala-402 has been ongoing since it first started on Wednesday, April 21.

The search for vessels is currently concentrated in nine points in the northern waters of Bali, which is about 40 kilometers from the coast of Celukan Bawang, Buleleng Regency.

The nine points became the focus of the investigation because the search team had discovered the oil spill and detected a strong magnetic force at a depth of 50-100 meters.

TNI Commander Marshal TNI Hadi Tjahjanto on the fourth day of the search, Saturday, said that various findings of ship components could be the basis for his side to increase the status of the submarine from submiss (lost) to subsunk (drowned).

"Elements of the Navy have found oil and debris spills which are authentic evidence of the sinking phase of the KRI Nanggala," said the TNI Commander during a press conference at the Base Ops Air Force Base I Gusti Ngurah Rai, Bali, Saturday.

On that occasion, Kasal explained that his party had found a number of items that were strongly suspected of belonging to the KRI Nanggala-402, including a torpedo tube straightener, a cooling pipe wrapper, an orange bottle of submarine periscope lubricant, as well as prayer tools and sponges to retain heat.
