Governor Of Bali: Nyoman And Ketut Who Were Born In 2025 Are Starting To Get Incentives

Bali Governor Wayan Koster confirmed that children born with the first names Nyoman and Ketut or the third and fourth children in Hindu Bali began to receive incentives from the government.

"Yes, those who were born starting this year gave incentives to Nyoman and Ketut, because Nyoman and Ketut are almost extinct," said Koster on the sidelines of the Bali Regional Government Coordination Meeting in Badung Regency, Wednesday, March 12.

Wayan Koster said that this incentive is to prevent the reduced number of children with the first names Nyoman and Ketut, because currently, Balinese Hindus tend to have two children plus a small population of Bali.

"Ketut is only 6 percent, Nyoman is only 19 percent, so it's dangerous if Nyoman and Ketut are missing, it means that we will be scolded by our ancestors," he said.

Governor Koster explained that the owner of the first name will receive incentives such as education to finance books or uniforms and will be recorded later by the intended school.

To ensure the technical implementation of this incentive, the Bali Provincial Government will form a policy formulating team called the Child's Preservation Planning Team for Nyoman/Komang and Ketut.

Still in his speech, Wayan Koster said that this incentive was included in his priority program in this second period. Included in the fields of customs, religion, traditions, arts and culture and local wisdom with the theme of realizing Bali with a personality in culture with the direction of policy of exploring and preserving the legacy of Balinese culture justuhung, strengthening and advancing traditional arts and cultural traditions and local wisdom.

The program in this field in addition to providing incentives also accelerates the implementation of the Bali Regional Regulation Number 4 of 2019 concerning traditional villages, Bali Regional Regulation Number 4 of 2020 concerning strengthening and advancing Balinese culture, and Bali Governor Regulation Number 6 of 2020 concerning civilized guides.

"Increasing efforts to explore a justuhung heritage are related to cultural arts traditions and local wisdom that have been extinct or abandoned by people in traditional villages, and expanding the use of Balinese characters according to Bali Governor Regulation Number 80 of 2018," he said.
