US Immigration Prisoners Fully Filled With Up To 47 Thousand People Amid Trump's Strict Policy
JAKARTA - US immigration prisoners are fully occupied by up to 47,600 detainees. Senior US Immigration and Customs (ICE) officials said the Donald Trump administration was trying to get more beds.
Officials requesting anonymity as a condition for the phone call, said ICE was expanding the capacity of the detention room with support from the US Department of Defense, US Department of Marga, and the Prison Bureau.
Reported by Reuters on Wednesday, March 12, ICE is currently funded to accommodate an average of 41,500 detainees. The official said ICE was working with US lawmakers to secure more funds for detention beds.
