Russia Awaits US Explanation Regarding The Proposed Ceasefire Of 30 Days Of War In Ukraine
JAKARTA -
Ukraine said on Tuesday it was ready to support US proposals for a 30-day ceasefire with Russia after a meeting in Jeddah.
United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Washington would submit the ceasefire proposal to Russia.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Moscow hopes to be briefed in the coming days by Foreign Minister Rubio and White House National Security Adviser Mike Waltz on Tuesday's negotiations.
Peskov further said he did not rule out the possibility of a phone call between president Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, which he said could be arranged very quickly if needed.
When asked in his daily press conference call with reporters whether the proposed 30-day ceasefire would benefit Russia or not, and whether Moscow would link the possible ceasefire to other demands, such as the lifting of Western sanctions against Moscow, Peskov said:
"You were a bit in a hurry. Yesterday, when talking to the press, both Rubio and Waltz said they would convey detailed information to us through various channels about the core of the conversation that took place in Jeddah. First, we have to receive this information," Peskov said.
