KLH Will Process Private TPA Legal Without Environmental Permit

JAKARTA - Deputy for Law Enforcement of the Ministry of Environment (Gakkum KLH) Rizal Irawan said his party would carry out legal proceedings to managers of illegal private final processing sites (TPA).

"In the future, of course, we will make more efforts, especially for private TPA-TPA, which without environmental permission will also be our target in the future," said Deputy Gakkum KLH Rizal Irawan in a press conference reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, March 12.

He said that the Ministry of Environment and Forestry had started the law enforcement process against a number of TPAs, both managed by local governments and those carried out illegally.

Several cases that have been going through the legal process include the Rawa Cat TPA in Tangerang, Banten, which is targeted to resubmit the case file in April 2025. There is also the Burangkeng TPA, Bekasi, West Java which is in the examination stage of the suspect with the initials SDS today.

There is also a TPA Bakung in Bandar Lampung, Lampung, which was sealed by the KLH last December which is currently in the process of examining witnesses and compiling case files and sending them.

His party is also processing the Sarbagita TPA case in Denpasar, Bali, which is currently being processed in the stage of requesting clarification and hearing information from experts and processing crime scenes with mangrove experts.

For the illegal TPA, his party is currently coordinating with the Depok District Attorney regarding the legal process of suspect J who manages the Limo illegal TPA, Depok, West Java and processes the determination of an additional suspect with the initials S. His party is also processing the law of the Caringin Main Market TPS in Bandung City which is in the clarification stage, requests for expert information and processing crime scenes with experts.

He is also processing government coercion sanctions against 343 TPA managed by local governments, including the initial stages of closing the cash dumping system or public waste disposal at 37 TPA.

"This is what our 343 TPA has only been completed within 2 months, we are really backing up. We are chasing 343 first because that is managed by the local government and for the private sector, we will do it again in the future," explained Rizal Irawan.
