Meeting The Bahrain Ambassador, PSSI Guarantees The Match Against The Indonesian National Team In Jakarta Is Safe

JAKARTA - PSSI General Chairperson (Ketum), Erick Thohir, has had a meeting with the Ambassador (Ambassador) Bahrain, Ahmed Abdulla Alharmasi Alhajeri.

The meeting also discussed the match between the Indonesian vs Bahrain national team which will take place at SUGBK (Bung Karno Main Stadium) on March 25, 2025.

Regarding the match, PSSI guaranteed that Bahrain could come and undergo the match against the Indonesian national team in a safe condition.

This, according to the chairman of PSSI, could refer to the previous Indonesian home match against Saudi Arabia and Japan.

"We at PSSI ensure that we will be good hosts when Bahrain competes at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium," wrote Erick Thohir in a statement posted on Instagram quoted on Wednesday, March 12, 2025.

"We as a great nation have also shown that we can be good hosts during the home match against Saudi Arabia and Japan before."

"We want all the fans of the host and the visitors to be able to enjoy the match safely and comfortably," he said.

The Indonesian and Bahrain national teams will meet on the eighth matchday of Group C of the 2026 World Cup Qualification in the Asian Zone.

Both the Indonesian and Bahrain national teams are currently competing for tickets to the 2026 World Cup. Indonesia is in third place with a collection of six points, the same as Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and China.

Australia is in second place with a one-point lead over the four teams below them. While Japan is at the top of the standings with a record of 16 points.

Before Indonesia vs Bahrain, the Garuda squad will first travel against Australia on March 20, 2025, while Bahrain will travel to Japanese headquarters.

Later the top two teams in Group C will qualify directly for the 2026 World Cup. Then, the third and fourth ranked teams will continue their journey to the Fourth Round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.
