Food Vlogger Codeblu Examined At The South Jakarta Police Regarding Allegations Of Extortion

The South Jakarta Metro Police recently summoned William Andersom, a food vlogger known as Codeblu, regarding reports of alleged extortion filed by the management of a bakery in November 2024.

According to a statement by the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the South Jakarta Metro Police, AKBP Ardian Satrio Utomo, his party had indeed examined Codeblu as a witness in this case. The examination was carried out to clarify a report stating that there was an alleged extortion under the guise of food reviews.

However, Codeblu who was present at the South Jakarta Metro Police confirmed that no extortion had occurred. According to him, the meeting was more in the form of an interview to explore the chronology of events from beginning to end. He revealed that all that happened was a professional cooperation offer process.

Earlier I was interviewed, asked for the chronology from start to finish. This is more of an interview, looking for the truth," Codeblu told reporters.

Responding to the extortion charge of Rp350 million, Codeblu explained that the figure was just a form of offer that he submitted based on his value as a content creator. He also emphasized that the bakeries had never explicitly rejected the offer.

"It means, for example, if I respect myself that much, it should be if you don't like it, that's okay, just refuse. Well, this isn't worth it, it's expensive," he explained.

From Codeblu's point of view, there is no element of coercion or threats in the communication process. He considered that what he did was purely a cooperative offer that should have been accepted or rejected without the need to be a polemic.

This case is still under investigation by the police, while Codeblu hopes that this problem can be resolved properly without any further misunderstanding.
