US Understands Ukraine's Arguments, President Zelensky Thanks President Trump After The Meeting In Saudi Arabia
JAKARTA - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky thanked President Donald Trump, saying the United States understood Ukraine's arguments in talks between the two countries held in Saudi Arabia.
His comments posted on social media are the latest attempt to ease the 'tightness' after the two leaders had a strong debate at a meeting in the Oval Room of the White House at the end of February.
Saudi Arabia has played a mediation role since the Russian invasion, including brokering a prisoner swap and hosting talks between Moscow and Washington last month.
In a photo uploaded by Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, the Kyiv delegation, among others, consisted of Ukraine's Chief of Staff President Andriy Yermak, and Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha. Meanwhile, the US delegation appears to be US National Security Adviser Mike Waltz and Foreign Minister Marco Rubio. From the hosts, it appears that among them are Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud.
President Zelensky in his post wrote that his country's position is very clear, seeking peace since the war broke out, doing various ways by reaching it as quickly as possible and so that war does not break out again.
I received a report from our delegation on their meeting with the American team in Saudi Arabia. The discussion lasted most of the day and was good and constructive—our teams were able to discuss many important details.

Ukraine, President Zelensky said, proposed three main points for nature meeting with the United States in Jeddah.
"The cessation of attacks in the air; attack at sea; as well as concrete steps to build trust as diplomacy progresses, meaning the release of prisoners of war and prisoners (cills and military), return of Ukrainian children," he tweeted on social media X as quoted March 12.
"The American side understands our arguments and is considering our proposal. I thank President Trump for the constructive conversation between our team," President Zelensky continued.
He added that Ukraine is ready to accept the United States' proposal regarding the full-armed gencata during 30 wars with Russia.
"Ukraine is ready to accept this proposal. We see it as a positive step and ready to do it. Now, it's up to the United States to convince Russia to do the same. If Russia agrees, the ceasefire will take effect soon," he wrote.
Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered a special military operation into Ukrainian territory with the aim of demilitarizing and denazification on February 24, 2022.

The rapid movement of Russian troops was hampered near Kyiv, bringing into a prolonged war, with last August Ukraine capable of carrying out cross-border attacks on Russian territory in Kursk, the country's first cross-border attack since World War II.
Later, President Trump has pushed for an agreement to end the war in Ukraine and made a separate call with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Zelensky last month.
It was then followed by a meeting between the Washington delegation and Moscow in Jeddah last month.
