North Jakarta Metro Police have arrested two men with the initials AR (29) and DN (18) who are suspected of extorting a truck driver at a traffic light intersection in Mambo, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta. This action allegedly violates legal provisions as stipulated in Article 368 of the Criminal Code concerning extortion.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit for North Jakarta Police, AKBP Benny Cahyadi, stated that the two suspects had been detained at the North Jakarta Metro Police for further investigation. This arrest was made in the Tanjung Priok area, and the Police are still trying to find another perpetrator who is still a fugitive.

"One perpetrator is still on the loose and we will pursue it," said AKBP Benny Cahyadi, ANTARA, Tuesday, March 11.

Until now, the Police have not been able to identify material or non-material losses experienced by the victim, because the victim has not officially reported the incident to the police. The identity of the truck driver who became the victim is also unknown. Therefore, the Police appealed to the victim to immediately report the incident so that the legal process can run according to applicable procedures.

This incident was revealed after a video circulated on social media showing three men extorting money from a truck driver who was stopped at a Mambo traffic light on Monday, March 10.

The video shows that one of the perpetrators wearing a brown shirt and black hat forced to open the truck door by riding the right front tire. Meanwhile, another perpetrator wearing a red jacket and black hat helped open the truck door, and the third perpetrator wearing a black shirt and a gray hat tried to get into the truck driver's cabin.

After finishing the action, the perpetrators got out of the truck and slammed the door hard.

Following up on reports from the public who witnessed the video, the North Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit immediately moved and managed to arrest two of the three perpetrators in a short time.

The actions of these perpetrators can be charged with Article 368 of the Criminal Code which regulates extortion with threats of violence or other actions that force people to give or commit a certain act. The criminal threat for extortion perpetrators is a maximum imprisonment of nine years. The investigation process will continue to reveal the involvement of other perpetrators and collect relevant evidence.

The police also appealed to the public not to hesitate to report similar actions they experienced or witnessed so that they could be followed up legally.
