Minister Of Immipas: Kutacane Over Capacity Prison, Convict Escape Allegedly Due To Eating Allotment

JAKARTA - Minister of Immigration and Corrections (Imipas) Agus Andrianto said the Southeast Aceh Kutacane Correctional Institution (Lapas), Aceh, experienced excess capacity or overcapacity. Because, from what is only intended for 100 people, now 368 inmates or inmates are filled.

"I have said earlier that the incident in Kutacane has only 100 capacities, now there are 368," Agus told reporters, Tuesday, March 11.

Excess capacity is a problem that always occurs and is faced. Efforts to adjust capacity have been made.

The trigger for the prisoners to escape was due to food problems. The inmates asked for an even distribution regarding asking for a budget to eat with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) detention center.

"What is currently developing is because of eating, asking for the same quota as the one from the KPK. Indeed, there are several classifications here, some are Rp. 18,000 per day, some are Rp. 20,000, some are Rp. 22,000," said Agus.

Dri laporan yang diterima, sekitar 50 penjabat yang kabur diri dari Lapas Kutacane. Sebanyak 12 di antaranya sudah ditangkap.

"If I'm not mistaken 50 (the train that escaped), 12 have been arrested at the Resort Police," said Agus.
