Prisoners Escape Masses From Southeast Aceh Kutacane Prison, 14 Arrested And 35 Still Wanted

The Directorate General of Corrections (Ditjen PAS) stated that 49 inmates fled from the Kutacane Correctional Institution (Lapas), Southeast Aceh.

The incident of the escape of dozens of inmates occurred on Monday, March 10 before breaking the fast. Some of them fled through the main door and some from the roof of the prison.

"It is true that there was an attempt to escape the inmates of the Kutacane Prison. The inmates fled 49 people," said Public Relations of the Directorate General of Public Relations of Rika Aprianti in her statement, Tuesday, March 11.

From the follow-up to the incident, dozens of inmates have been arrested. In fact, some of them surrendered.

Meanwhile, the rest are still being searched. The Directorate General of PAS is working with the police to find the whereabouts of other inmates.

"The arrests returned and surrendered 14 people. 35 people are still being chased," he said.

Currently, the security of the Kutacane Prison has been tightened after the mass escape incident. However, services to other inmates are still carried out according to the provisions.

"The control of prisons is currently assisted by the police and the TNI," said Rika.
