Rain And Lightning Threaten A Number Of Indonesian Regions Today, BMKG Reminds To Be Alert

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that most parts of Indonesia will experience rain with varying intensity on Tuesday, March 11 from light rain to rain accompanied by lightning.

BMKG forecaster Zhenny Husna said that light rain is predicted in several major cities on the island of Sumatra, namely Medan, North Sumatra; Padang, West Sumatra; Tanjung Pinang, Riau Islands; Jambi; Palembang, South Sumatra; and Bandar Lampung, Lampung.

Quoted by ANTARA, on the island of Java, light rain has the potential to flush Serang, Banten; Jakarta; Semarang, Central Java; and Surabaya, East Java. Similar conditions are also predicted to occur in Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara; Pontianak, West Kalimantan; Tanjung Selor, North Kalimantan.

Also Makassar, South Sulawesi; Mamuju, West Sulawesi; Palu, Central Sulawesi; Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi; and Jayapura, Papua; Ternate, North Maluku; and Ambon, Maluku.

Then, moderate-intensity rain has the potential to occur in Bengkulu and Gorontalo. In addition, Yogyakarta is also predicted to experience rain with similar intensity.

BMKG also warned of the potential for rain accompanied by lightning in several areas, such as Pekanbaru, Riau; Pangkal Pinang, Bangka Belitung Islands; Bandung, West Java; Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara; Samarinda, East Kalimantan; Palangka Raya, Central Kalimantan; Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan; Manado, North Sulawesi; Sorong, Southwest Papua; Nabire, Central Papua; Jayawijaya, Papua Mountains; and Merauke, South Papua.

Meanwhile, cloudy conditions are predicted to occur in Denpasar, Bali, while running away air has the potential to occur in Manokwari, West Papua.
