Gusti Irwan Wibowo Was Banned By His Father From Studying Indonesian Songs
JAKARTA - Gusti Irwan Wibowo alias Gustiwiw became one of the panels in a discussion held to commemorate National Music Day in Cilandak, South Jakarta on Sunday, March 9.
Musicians who are viral and known for their humorous works also tell how the references to music he has obtained since childhood have shaped his current way of music.
Meanwhile, Gusti has a father who is also a musician in the 1980s, Timur Priyono, who wrote hits such as The Important Hepi and Sap Benar
Interestingly, the father actually introduced songs from the English band to Gusti. He admitted that he was not allowed to learn music with Indonesian lyrics.
"For music, I was actually explained by the late father to Queen (music)," said Gusti.
"In the past, I was not allowed to listen to Indonesian language songs (with my father). In the past it was not allowed, because according to papa 'Don't, son, the industry is not good'," he continued.
Gusti herself did not know for sure the reason her father forbade her to learn from Indonesian-language songs. He prefers to obey and learn from outer music.
Actually, a lot of people were called after, there was the Beatles, there was The Police, only the first one involved was Queen. Then it ended up being interested because they had their songs that were less famous. In the past, they also asked The Police, but the live version, "he explained.

Continue to be recognized by the orchestra for the first time as a composer whose name is Yanni. Now, I hear Japanese songs the most. Yes, because the music is unique. After that, I finally turned to Latin," said Gusti.
It doesn't stop there, when studying music formally in schools and colleges, Gusti learns classical music.
"When I went to high school, because I was already in music school, I finally learned classical music, from history and so on. Yes, learn more," he said. Finally I really learned composition, learned how to work on the right orchestra, then I also met the people. Yes, finally it becomes rich now.
Despite having extensive musical references, Gusti still uses her father's works as inspiration. She has released one album and several singles, almost all of which feel humorous.
"Usually people are just fixated on one genre, while I have an understanding that the genre was actually made, it was never intentional," he concluded.
