Prabowo: RI-Vietnam Increase Automotive-Resistance Cooperation

President Prabowo Subianto stated that Indonesia and Vietnam agreed to increase cooperation in almost all sectors, including automotive, fisheries, green economy, digital economy, and defense.

President Prabowo said the two countries are targeting a trade value of up to USD 18 billion by 2028.

"We want to improve relations and cooperation. We increase it to a comprehensive strategic partnership and we really want to strengthen and cooperate in almost all fields, politics, economy, defense and security, people to the people, exchange visits in education and science," said President Prabowo when delivering a joint statement with the Secretary-General of the Vietnam Communist Party. The president believes two countries can grow and realize their dreams of becoming developed countries by 2045, when there is better economic integration.

"We welcome Vietnam's investment in Indonesia in the automotive sector, as well as in agriculture, and various other fields. This will help the two countries increase food security and we can even become world food contributors," he said.

Prabowo continued in the defense sector, two countries agreed to increase special cooperation for the defense industry sector.

"Also in (held) joint exercises between our two defenses, then exchanged officers, increased training, we even agreed to do joint patrols," said Prabowo.

The Secretary General of the Vietnam Communist Party To Lam and his wife Ngo Phu'o'ng Ly were in Jakarta on March 9, 2025, during a state visit, which also coincided with the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Vietnam.
