TNI Soldiers Who Occupy Civil Positions Must Resign Or Retire Early

Head of the TNI Information Center Major General TNI Hariyanto explained the steps that active TNI officers had to take to resign from the unit for carrying out civilian positions.

"If a TNI soldier will hold civilian office outside the provisions of Article 47 paragraph (2) of the TNI Law, what must be taken will resign or retire early from military service," said TNI Major General Hariyanto as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, March 10.

Kapuspen TNI explained that soldiers can submit resignations to the TNI Headquarters so that they can occupy civilian positions outside the TNI.

After the submission is submitted, the decision to resign will be ratified by the TNI leadership.

"After his resignation was approved, the soldier was fully civilian and no longer bound by the rules and obligations as a member of the TNI," he said.

When asked about the sanctions regulated by the TNI Law if the active TNI soldiers did not withdraw from the unit, Major General TNI Hariyantoenggan answered.

Meanwhile, TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto ensured that active soldiers who now serve in other agencies and institutions must retire early or resign.

"So, active TNI soldiers who serve in other ministries/agencies will retire early or resign from active service, in accordance with Article 47. Thank you," said TNI General Agus when met at PTIK, South Jakarta.

Article 47 paragraph (2) of the TNI Law regulates regulations if TNI members occupy civilian positions.

However, Agus did not mention who were active members of the TNI who currently had to retire or resign because they took civilian office.

Previously, the public highlighted several active TNI officials who held strategic positions in the civilian realm.

Several TNI officials who became the public's attention were Lt. Col. Inf. Teddy Indra Wijaya who served as Cabinet Secretary. Previously, Teddy held the position still with the rank of major.

Later, Teddy got a promotion from the TNI Commander to Lieutenant Colonel.

In addition, there is the Major General of the TNI Novi Helmy Prasetya who serves as the President Director of PT Bulog. At the same time, Novi also served as Danjen of the TNI Academy.
