APBD Surgeon, Minister Of Home Affairs Tito Reveals There Are Areas Whose Food Budget Reaches IDR 51 Billion

JAKARTA - Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian revealed that there is one area that allocates a food budget of up to IDR 51 billion per year.

This is the finding of the Ministry of Home Affairs when dissecting regional budgets in the context of efficiency for the implementation of the 2024 Pilkada re-voting (PSU).

"The problem of official travel, food money, there is an area with a meal fee of Rp. 51 billion a year, for example. This means that if it is divided into 12 Rp. 51 billion, it means Rp. 4 billion per month," Tito said in a joint working meeting with Commission II of the DPR, Monday, March 10. Tito said that there are many budget allocations in the regions that are not efficient. Even though according to him, the budget can still be simplified. "That's if we look into it again, until the smallest unit, it's not efficient. Likewise, the regions that travel in the service are very large, for example," he said. "maintaining, very high maintenance is also very high, which is actually a lot of simplified ones," Tito continued.

Tito then mentioned two regions that stated that they were unable to hold a PSU using the APBD. Namely Pasaman Regency and Boven Digoel Regency.

According to Tito, the budget for the Boven Digoel Regency State Budget was not efficient when it was dissected. Therefore, the Minister of Home Affairs asked for an operating budget that was not necessary to reduce.

"This Boven Digoel, if asked by the regional head, the answer is definitely not able to please go from the state budget. But when their budget has been dissected one by one, there are a lot of inefficients. This is what we do, go down and dissect their budget. Unnecessary operational spending and others are reduced," he explained.

Tito emphasized that the Ministry of Home Affairs continues to strive so that the budget for the implementation of PSU Pilkada comes from the APBD of each region.

"Because we hope that the scenario is KPUD, Bawaslu proposes not to make maximum proposals, but the proposal can at least work," he concluded.
