Education Observer Highlights UKI Student Death Cases Inside Campus

Education observer, Totok Amin Soefijanto highlighted the case of the death of an Indonesian Christian University (UKI) student named Kenzha Walewangko (22) who died in his campus area.

According to Totok, this death incident has attracted public attention. The reason is, the campus as a center for the formation of intellectuals, is now even colored by acts of violence.

"The government and the public must take seriously the incident of violence on campus. Every campus has a special team to prevent acts of violence. Why can it still happen?," Totok said when confirmed, Monday, March 10.

Totok asked the government, namely the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek) together with the police to thoroughly investigate the case and arrest the perpetrators.

On the other hand, UKI as a university tasked with producing the next generation of the nation, must proactively assist in handling this case, and open the process clearly.

"There should be no neglect, let alone closure of cases, because it will become an iceberg that explodes in the future," he said.

Previously, it was reported that the Chancellor of the Indonesian Christian University (UKI), Dhaniswara K. Harjono finally opened his voice regarding the death of a Fakulty of Fisipol student named Kenzaha Walewangko (22) on Friday, March 7.

"We all know that just three days ago, UKI mourned that one of its students from the political science study program, died. And at that time I was already at home. I still remember at 20.58 WIB, I was called by the head of the campus authority and it was said that a student had died," Dhaniswara told reporters.

Then the rector ordered to report to the East Jakarta Metro Police.

"So we don't delay it anymore because there is indeed one incident that resulted in the loss of the lives of others. In this case, our own students. And of course as good citizens, we all respect the applicable legal process," he said.
