PLN Prepares 1,000 SPKLU Units On The Trans Java-Sumatra Line
PT PLN (Persero) ensures the smooth journey of electric vehicle (EV) travelers at the moment of Eid al-Fitr by presenting 1,000 units of Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) on the Trans Java-Sumatra homecoming route, spread over 615 strategic locations and equipped with 24-hour non-stop alert personnel.
PLN's Director of Retail and Commerce, Edi Srimulyanti, said that the existence of SPKLU at various points became the company's main focus in the moment of Ramadan to Eid Al-Fitr considering the increasing number of EV users. In Eid 2025, EV travelers are projected to increase by 500 percent or as many as 21,570 vehicles compared to last year's 4,314 vehicles.
"We have carried out a comprehensive assessment and mapped strategic points to ensure that EV travelers can easily access SPKLU during the trip," said Edi, Monday, March 10.
Edi explained that there were a total of 3,529 SPKLU units operated by PLN and partners, spread over 2,400 points throughout Indonesia. In detail, the number of SPKLUs in Sumatra is 431 units, Java 2,448 units, Bali 166 units, Kalimantan 215 units, Sulawesi 145 units, Maluku 26 units, Nusa Tenggara 72 units, and Papua 26 units.
"To ensure that travelers are comfortable in charging, PLN has also alerted 12 mobile SPKLU units spread across the Trans Java-Sumatra route. The existence of this unit is also important, especially in helping EV travelers if at any time they run out of power on the way," continued Edi.

Technology support is also presented through the PLN Mobile application, which is equipped with the Electric Vehicle Digital Services (EVDS) feature to help users find the nearest SPKLU location.
The PLN Mobile application is also equipped with the Trip Planner feature which helps users plan travel routes and determine the best location points for optimal charging.
"Customers will have no trouble finding SPKLU. Through the features in PLN Mobile, they can easily find SPKLU locations and plan charging with the Trip Planner feature that we provide," concluded Edi.
