Brawl Rises During Ramadan, 17 Teenagers In Cirebon Arrested

CIREBON - Cirebon City Police (Polresta), West Java, arrested 17 teenagers who were involved in a brawl in Sumber District, Cirebon Regency, on Sunday night at around 21.30 WIB.

The Head of Cirebon Police, Kombes Pol. Sumarni, explained that the incident began when patrol officers in the field received reports from residents about a group of teenagers suspected of being involved in a brawl.

He said officers immediately went to the location to disperse the youth group. However, the situation is getting hotter because there were several residents who had been provoked by emotions.

"We immediately disbanded it. So that the perpetrators along with all the evidence, including two flags and three attributes of gang clothes, were immediately secured for further investigation," he said.

According to him, this quick action was taken to prevent clashes that could endanger local residents.

Sumarni asked parents to pay more attention to their children's activities, so as not to fall into negative actions that have the potential to harm themselves or others.

"The appeal applies to village, RT and RW officials to be more active in supervising their citizens," he said.

He conveyed that patrols by the Raimas Tiger Team Kumbang 852 were carried out regularly, as a preventive measure to create a conducive security and public order situation (kamtibmas), especially during the month of Ramadan.

Sumarni said the patrol was focused on preventing criminal acts ranging from brawls, motorcycle gangs, thuggery, to drug abuse and alcohol in the Cirebon area.

The patrol continues to be increased in order to reduce the crime rate in the Cirebon Regency area. Strict action will be taken against the perpetrators of crime," he said.
