Reflecting On Indonesian Independence At The Commemoration Of The 12th National Music Day
JAKARTA - Dozens of music people gathered for a discussion in celebration of National Music Day at BRO's Studio, Cilandak, South Jakarta on Sunday, March 9 evening.
Today, we not only celebrate music, but also respect its history and long journey in this country. March 9 was chosen as National Music Day because it coincided with the birthday of WR Supratman, the creator of the national anthem Indonesia Raya. He is not just a composer, but also a symbol of how music can become a tool of struggle, unifier, and driving the nation," said Aldo.
"Since it was first commemorated, National Music Day is a reminder that music is not just entertainment, it is our identity, economic strength, and bridge of diplomacy with the world," he continued.
Aldo said Indonesia has extraordinary musical wealth. However, the current world situation that is increasingly open presents its own challenges. Indonesian musicians must ensure their identity remains alive without losing competitiveness.
