Komdigi Will Hold BTS Fake Enforcement Operation With Police

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Digital together with the Indonesian National Police are committed to strengthening synergies in cracking down on BTS's fake network and online gambling that is troubling the public.

Fake BTS, which is often abused for fraud and the spread of illegal information, as well as online gambling, which is detrimental to the community's economy, is the main focus in this collaboration.

'Digital space security is a priority. There is no tolerance for cybercriminals that threaten public order," Meutya said in her official broadcast quoted Monday, March 10.

Meutya also emphasized that close collaboration between the government and law enforcement officials will be the key in creating a secure and reliable digital ecosystem.

Meanwhile, Listyo Sigit added that this collaboration will be strengthened by the use of advanced technology and increasing personnel capacity, so that legal action against violators can be carried out quickly and effectively.

This step affirms the government's commitment to facing digital security challenges systematically and sustainably.

Previously, Komdigi had found a BTS (Base Transceiver Station) fake fraud, which was used by cybercriminals to steal personal data and commit mobile network-based fraud.

With a special device, the perpetrator of the crime imitates the original cell tower signal so that the victim's cellphone is automatically connected to a fake network without realizing it.

From there, they can tap communication, steal device identities (IMSI/IMMEI), and send SMS or fake calls that appear to come from official banks or institutions.
