PSSI Rejects Appeal, Persela Lamongan Accepts Sentence In The Aftermath Of Riots In Tuban

JAKARTA - Persela Lamongan's management stated that they accepted the PSSI Appeal Committee's decision to reject the application for relief related to the Disciplinary Committee's (Komdis) sentence, due to the chaos that occurred against Persijap Jepara in the League 2 match at the Tuban Sport Center (TSC) Stadium, East Java, Tuesday (18/2).

Persela manager Fariz Julinar Maurisal when confirmed in Lamongan, East Java, Sunday, said that the PSSI Appeal Committee's decision was part of the club's internal learning in an effort to build better football.

"This is a lesson for all of us together. I know all of Persela's love, so do I, but whatever the decision from PSSI is, we must accept it," he said, as quoted by Antara.

In addition, he realized that the decision was an effort by the federation to make improvements or transformations of football in Indonesia.

"We are aware of the federation's decision for the advancement of football in Indonesia," he said.

He added that currently, Persela Lamongan Management is evaluating and taking steps that will be taken in the future to ensure improvements and management of matches, including supporters or supporters.

In an official document released by PSSI, the Appeal Committee stated that the decision taken had considered a number of aggravating factors.

One of them is the negative impact of the riots that occurred on the image of national football, as well as the failure of the committee in managing supporters.

The riots that occurred in Persela Lamongan's match against Persijap Jepara not only tarnished the face of national football, but also showed the team's lack of optimal support for supporters.

In addition, another aggravating thing is that previously the Persela Panpel had also been sanctioned for similar violations based on the PSSI Disciplinary Committee Decree Number 032/L2/SK/KD-PSSI/X/2024 on October 10, 2024.

Taking into account the available evidence and facts, the PSSI Appeal Committee finally decided two main points in the letter, namely rejecting the appeal filed by the Persela Lamongan Implementing Committee as a whole.

Second, strengthen the decision of the PSSI Disciplinary Committee Number 188/L2/SK/KD-PSSI/I/2025 which was issued on February 21, 2025, with improvements to the qualification of disciplinary violations.
