13 Motorcycles Allegedly Stolen Using Cardboard Containing Books, One Perpetrator Arrested By Police
A total of 13 motorbikes allegedly stolen to be smuggled into the Bengkulu area were successfully thwarted by the Tambora Police.
Dozens of motorbikes were secured after police suspected a white truck was loaded on their way to the Tambora area.
Tambora Police Chief Kompol Muhammad Kukuh Islami explained that the arrest of the smugglers of dozens of motorbikes allegedly stolen began when members of the Tambora Police who were investigating the motor vehicle theft case (curanmor) suspected a truck with police number BD 8573 P.
After being dismissed and examined, officers found 13 motorcycles of various brands covered by cardboard containing books.
A perpetrator with the initials AMR (45) who is a truck driver has been arrested by the police. AMR was also named a suspect and charged with Article 480 of the Criminal Code or a collector of stolen goods.
From AMR's confession, he admitted that he was only hired to send a motorbike that was not equipped with vehicle documents to a recipient in Bengkulu.
"Every motorbike that is successfully delivered, AMR gets a salary of Rp. 500,000 per unit after the motorbike arrives in Bengkulu," said Kompol Kukuh when confirmed, Sunday, March 9.
In addition, officers also learned that the motorbike was transported by a transporter with the initials A who is now a fugitive.
"Other perpetrators with the initials I and A are still being chased," he said.

The 13 motorbikes that want to be smuggled into Bengkulu consist of the Honda Vario, Scoopy, Beat, and Yamaha Nmax types.
Currently, the Tambora Police are still checking further on the frame number and motorcycle engine that were secured with the help of the Traffic Directorate of Polda Metro Jaya. The police are also still developing the case.
