Ramadan 2021: UAE Food Bank Aims To Print A World Record For Distribution Of 50 Thousand Foods In 5 Hours
JAKARTA - In Ramadan 2021, the United Arab Emirates (UEA) Food Bank targets to be able to set a Guinness World Record by distributing 50,000 meals and food packages, which were donated in five hours during Ramadan.
Dubai City together with the Department of Islamic Affairs and the Department of Charitable Activities in Dubai (IACAD), join forces with one of the food apps, which helps to feed underprivileged people around the world.
The campaign was organized under the instructions of Sheikha Hind binti Maktoum, wife of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai. Sheikha Hind is the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the UAE Food Bank.
People can donate iftar meals and dry food boxes of different sizes through the app. Food donated via the app will be distributed to beneficiaries, in coordination with licensed charities in the emirate and through the UAE Food Bank.
To provide peace of mind for food recipients, there will be checks to ensure the safety of food for consumption.
"This campaign provides an opportunity for citizens and residents to actively partner in initiatives that uphold the philanthropic spirit of the UAE, while supporting the goals of the National Food Security Strategy to reduce food waste and redistribute excess food," said Sheikha Hind, launching The National News.
As part of the campaign, the UAE Food Bank will also distribute ready-to-eat meals and parcels. The Dubai Municipal Government will oversee the collection and storage of food in its refrigerators at various UAE locations. Meanwhile, the distribution will be carried out by IACAD officials, volunteers, and a team from the UAE Food Bank.
In addition to ready-to-eat meals, this campaign also provides opportunities for people who wish to donate parcels of dry food, in collaboration with one of the UAE's online shopping application services, global online shopping applications and online food ordering applications.
Later, the online transportation application service involved in this campaign will collect food that is safe for consumption from home and send it to the nearest UAE Food Bank refrigerator for free.
Included in this campaign, one of the Mexican food brands, allows individuals to create their own recipes and upload them on certain applications. Furthermore, the food brand will donate a food package for each recipe that is sent.
