Central Java Police Notes An Increase In Disclosure Of Drug Trafficking Cases
The Directorate of Drug Investigation of the Central Java Regional Police noted a significant increase in the disclosure of the circulation of methamphetamine in 2024 compared to the previous year.
"The achievement in 2024 has increased significantly compared to previous years," said Director of Drug Investigation at the Central Java Police, Police Commissioner Anwar Nasir, in Semarang, Saturday.
In 2024, the Central Java Regional Police revealed 1,633 cases of drug abuse, an increase compared to 2023, which recorded 1,486 cases.
According to Anwar, a total of 2,139 suspects were prosecuted for the disclosure of drug cases throughout 2024.

He said the significant increase was seen in the amount of evidence revealed.
"In 2024, the Central Java Police thwarted the circulation of 108.1 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, an increase of about 500 percent compared to 2023 which was recorded at 17.8 kilograms," he said.
A significant increase also occurred in the failure of the circulation of ecstasy in 2024 which reached 38,499 pills, up many times compared to 3,740 pills in 2023. He added that the increase in disclosure of these cases could not be separated from the optimization of performance and implementation of the strategy implemented.
In 2025, Anwar ensured that the performance of the Central Java Police's Narcotics Investigation Directorate remained optimal in eradicating these illicit goods. In the first two months of 2025, the Central Java Police were able to thwart the shipment of 26 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine from two cases.
