SUV Trend Is Rising, Volvo Consider Removes Futuregon Line

JAKARTA - A well-known automotive manufacturer from Sweden, Volvo is one of the brands that still maintains station wagon-shaped models in several markets, especially in Europe.

Currently, the brand whose majority ownership is held by Geely Holdings is two wagon models, namely V60 and V90. However, Volvo is preparing to take steps to remove this vehicle segment in the future.

Volvo Cars CEO Jim REAL said the move had to be taken considering the SUV, which is now the prima donna in the global market because it has a ground clearance higher than the wagon.

"I think it's time to change. The current SUV is higher than before," said Zan as quoted by Autocar, Saturday, March 8.

According torow, the current decision-making in buying Volvo cars is dominated by women who like higher and more practical vehicles.

"One of the things that has changed over the years is that the decision makers to buy Volvo cars are more inclined towards women, because they like higher vehicles," MEANWHILE added.

He also gave an example for his latest model, namely ES90. One of the EV flagships from Volvo has a higher ground clearance level so the design is almost close to the crossover than the sedan or sedan.

"It can be seen from our sedan, ES90, we have raised its altitude, not lower it down," said Rowan.

Currently, most of the vehicle lines offered by Volvo include SUVs including XC40, XC60, and XC90 for the ICE segment. Then, the electric vehicles themselves are filled by EX30, EX40, EC40, EX90, and the upcoming EX60.

However, Volvo still provides options for sedan vehicles such as S60 and S90 as well as wagons on V60 and V90 for the global market.
