Deputy Minister Of Villages Asks IAI To Design Village Development According To Potential

Deputy Minister of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions (Wamendes PDT) Ahmad Riza Patria asked the Indonesian Architects Association (IAI) to design village development planning by adjusting the potential of the village.

"This is important so that it can be used as a guideline to determine the program intervention that will be used for the village," said the man who is familiarly called Ariza, as quoted from a statement received in Jakarta, Saturday.

Wamendes Ariza also asked IAI to contribute to building 75,265 villages in Indonesia. He said that actually building a village means building Indonesia.

"I invite IAI to help build villages because actually building villages also build Indonesia," he said.

This was conveyed when he received the IAI audience in the Executive Meeting Room, Kemendes PDT, Jakarta, Friday (7/3).

Furthermore, Wamendes Ariza said that the Kemendes PDT really needed collaboration with other parties to build villages because the number was so large.

Currently, he said, out of a total of 75,265 villages in Indonesia, there are around 14 percent or more than 10 thousand villages that are still very lagging behind. Then, there are around 3,000 villages that have not received electricity and around 22,000 villages have not received internet access.

In general, said Wamendes Ariza, there are three big problems in the village. First, related to human resources that are not yet capable. Second, the lack of facilities or infrastructure and the third is about financing and capital.

"If these three problems are resolved, then the village problems in Indonesia can be resolved," said the former Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta.

To boost the development of the village, he continued, the Kemendes PDT focused on empowering, assisting and supervising. In addition, it also collaborates with parties ranging from ministries/agencies, universities, NGOs, media, to community organizations to jointly build villages.
