Indonesian National Team Legend Junaedi Abdillah Dies

JAKARTA Sad news is hitting Indonesian football. One of the legends of the national team, Junaedi Abdillah, died. Januedi breathed his last at Pertamina Central Hospital (RSPP), South Jakarta, on Saturday, March 8, 2025. He died at the age of 77.

The former player and coach of the Indonesian national team, Rahmad Darmawan, also confirmed the news.

"My deepest condolences for the death of our kind senior, brother Junaedi Abdillah. May the family left behind be given fortitude, sincerity and patience," wrote Rahmad.

Junaedi Abdillah is a player who plays as a midfielder. He had a brilliant journey while actively defending Garuda's troops. Junaedi was born in Mataram, Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), on February 21, 1948. He is known as a tough player on the gridiron.

During his time with the national team, Junaedi was part of the team that won the 1968 King's Cup in Thailand and the 1969 Merdeka Cup in Malaysia after defeating the hosts.

In addition, Junaedi Abdillah has also experienced competing against European teams such as AFC Ajax and Manchester United.
