Kanjuruhan Stadium Is Now Officially Under Malang Regency Government Management

The Ministry of Public Works (PU) through the East Java Regional Settlement Infrastructure Center (BPPW) handed over the management of the Kanjuruhan Stadium which had been renovated to the local government.

"On this occasion this morning, we from the Ministry of Public Works through the East Java BPPW handed back the stadium that was built to the Malang Regency Government," said Head of the Implementation Work Unit for the Regional II Settlement Infrastructure of the East Java BPPW Any Virgyani, at the Malang Regency Hall, quoted from ANTARA, Saturday, March 8.

In addition to the handover report, his party also submitted several administrative documents for the stadium building located in Kepanjen District, namely the approval of building management and analysis regarding environmental impacts (Amdal).

"Also what is in the process of being processed is a certificate of feasibility. That the Kanjuruhan Stadium has met the standards for FIFA related to the football stadium," he said.

On that occasion, Any explained the budget for the total renovation project of the Kanjuruhan Stadium disbursed by the central government amounting to Rp357.8 billion.

The time for the renovation of the stadium was carried out for approximately two years, starting from September 4, 2023 until it was declared complete by the Minister of Public Works, Dody Hanggodo, on January 18, 2025.

The renovation of the Kanjuruhan Stadium in Malang Regency began with the tragedy on October 1, 2022, which caused 135 people to die.

"This incident has also triggered the government to carry out rehabilitation and renovation programs for 20 other stadiums in Indonesia," he said again.

Malang Regent M Sanusi said that after the handover, it would be followed up with discussions on the use of the Kanjuruhan Stadium, including by the Arema FC football club.

He said that the stadium was under the management of the Malang Regency Youth and Sports Service (Dispora).

"The Youth and Sports Service is certainly the manager, there will be initial discussions that will be collaborated with Arema," he said.

He added that related to the cost of treatment which is fully the responsibility of the Malang Regency Government, it will still be calculated and submitted in the changes to the 2025 regional budget (APBD) with the local DPRD.

"The calculation was carried out by Dispora, then we submitted it (via PAK)," he also said.
