KAI Increases Railroad Supervision In North Sumatra To Face Eid Transportation
The increase in supervision was carried out in all railway lines of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Divre I North Sumatra (North Sumatra) through various actions such as safety talk, periodic inspections, and direct checks to the field to ensure that everything runs safely and in an orderly manner.
Vice President of PT KAI Divre I North Sumatra, Sofan Hidayah in Medan, Saturday, said that in facing the 2025 Eid transportation period, various preparations were made, including increasing supervision of all railway lines.
Security personnel are also alerted in various strategic locations, such as unmaintained level crossings but have a high level of vehicle traffic.
"KAI also monitors the Special Attention Area (Dapsus), which is an area that is considered to have a high level of risk to security disturbances and the safety of train travel," he said, as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, March 8.
In train operations, KAI always prioritizes the safety of passengers and people living around the rail line. Therefore, KAI invites all parties to work together in maintaining security by not carrying out activities around the rail line.
People who see suspicious or dangerous activity around railroad tracks are advised to immediately report it to KAI officers or authorities to prevent accidents.
With these various steps, KAI hopes to create a safer, orderly, and comfortable railway environment for all parties, especially during the Ramadan and before Eid.
"Security and safety of train travel is a shared responsibility. For this reason, we invite the entire community to obey the rules and make the safety of train travel a top priority," he said.

Previously, the North Sumatra KAI had also emphasized the prohibition for people to move on the railway line, including when waiting for the time to break their fast or bury during the month of Ramadan, because it was considered very dangerous and could threaten the safety of their lives.
"During the holy month of Ramadan, it is still found that people gather or play around the railroad tracks, both at dawn and before breaking the fast. We want to remind that the railway line is not a place for activities other than railway operations," he said.
As a precautionary measure, KAI actively conducts outreach to the public, including visiting schools and various communities to raise awareness of the dangers of activities around the rail line.
In addition to education, KAI also continues to strengthen security patrols in the railway line area. This step was taken by cooperating with the TNI, Polri to assist at vulnerable points to avoid unwanted incidents.
