Preventing Production Reduction, PetroChina Drills

JAKARTA - PetroChina International Jabung Ltd ensures that it will conduct massive drilling throughout 2025 to prevent a decline in oil and gas production.

Drilling Operation Manager PetroChina Jabung Kiki Ariefianto said, after adding a block concession, PetroChina is committed to continuing the update to maintain national production. Although still concentrated in the NEB and Gema areas, Kiki said PetroChina would drill 9 wells including Gema-73, Gema-80, NEB-111, NEB-112, Panen-11, Gema-85, NEB-115, NEB-110, and Gema-81.

"NEB and Gema are already quite a lot, so we dig it, we drill it inside. It's arrived, it's not that NEB is more than 100, GEMA may follow it on the next occasion," he said as quoted on Saturday, March 8.

Not only drilling, PetroChina also carries out well maintenance (workover) to maintain production rates such as in Gema-25, Gema-17, NEB-9, Panin-3, Panin-2, Ripa-10, Ripa-19, Ripa-6, North Dragon-6, and NEB-19 and Gema-27.

Kiki said drilling and well maintenance need to be boosted. If not, there will be a massive decline in production.

"If drilling is not carried out, maybe at this time we will no longer produce in Jabung," he explained.

With massive work, continued Kiki, PetroChina managed to produce 50 to 55 MBOPD oil and gas in October 2024.

"Yes, hopefully we also hope to add more to the current one," said Kiki.
