East Belitung Residents Carried Away By The Current While Washing Boats At The Port, The SAR Team Conducts A Search

The joint SAR team carried out a search process for one of the residents who fell on the Sungai Pelabuhan Suspension, East Belitung. The man with the name Asiran fell while washing the ship.

"Residents on behalf of Asiran (51) fell while cleaning one of the boats in the river and are still in the process of being searched because the victim's body was swept away by the current," said Head of the Pangkalpinang Search and Rescue Office I Made Oka Astawa in a release received by Antara in Pangkalpinang, Friday, March 7, confiscated by Antara.

He explained that the victim today at around 15.00 WIB was washing the boat at the Suspension Port, while washing the boat the victim slipped and fell into the river and was immediately swept away by the current.

The incident was witnessed by the Village Head, Ayep, who was not far from the scene.

Knowing this, Ayep immediately reported and asked for SAR assistance to the East Belitung SAR Post, for further information was submitted to the Pangkalpinang Search and Rescue Office.

Receiving this information, the Pangkalpinang Search and Rescue Office dispatched a Rescue Team for the East Belitung SAR Post to the scene at coordinates 2.57'58.36"S 108 deg10'12.34"E.

Arriving at the scene of the incident, the joint SAR team consisting of the East Belitung SAR Post Rescuer, the local Regency BPBD and local residents immediately searched the victim using a rubber boat by combing towards the victim being carried away by the current.

"We are also coordinating with related parties in East Belitung Regency and the victim's family to carry out the search for victims. We will continue to strive and hope that the victim can be found safe soon," he said.
