Meta Is Developing Discord-like Community Chat Features

JAKARTA - Meta is reportedly developing a community chat feature or Community Chat on Instagram, which allows admins to organize groups containing up to 250 people.

This rumor was first raised by cellular developer Alessandro Paluzzi. In his post on Threads he shared several screenshots of the new feature.

Based on the screenshots shared, it looks like the Community Chat feature will have a function similar to the features already in Discord.

Where individual users can create chat rooms around certain topics and control who can join, although there seems to be a limit of 250 people per community.

This is different from the Instagram channel feature that allows creators to send messages to their followers. Meanwhile, in this Community Chat, whoever is in it can participate in conversations.

However, Paluzzi said that the admins from the community would have complete control over the chat room, either deleting messages from members or removing members.

The conversation can accommodate up to 250 people and the admin can delete messages and members, Paluzzi wrote in his post.

It's not clear when, or whether, the feature will launch. So, let's wait for more information and confirmation from Meta in the future.

On the other hand, recently, Instagram announced that it will launch Edits, a editing app like CapCut in January. The app is promised to be available on March 13.

It looks like Meta will be late in launching Edits. The pre-order page for the Edits App Store application noted that the app will be available on March 31, meaning, two weeks later than the initial date was promised.
