Orleans Masters 2025: Rehan/Gloria Beat First Seed

JAKARTA Mixed doubles Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja qualified for the quarter-finals of the Orleans Masters 2025.

They finished off the first seed from Malaysia, Cheng Tang Jie/Toh Ee Wei, two straight games 21-8 and 21-17 in just 33 minutes on Thursday, March 6, 2025, WIB night.

Rehan/Gloria actually started the first game of the Super 300 BWF event badly. They trailed 1-3 before getting up and continued to dominate the opponent.

"Alhamdulillah, I was able to win in today's match," said Rehan after the match as received from PBSI Public Relations.

In the second game, Rehan/Gloria started by securing the first point. The opponent equalized twice after that and managed to get the score closer to critical points.

"Luckily, in the final points they can be carried away again with our pattern. It makes it easier for us to press again," said Rehan.

Rehan/Gloria previously went through the first round of the tournament dramatically. They were forced to rise from behind to win.

Even in the second game, their hopes of winning were already narrow once after being far behind 8-14. However, six consecutive points after that managed to change the situation.

"Our confidence is quite increased after being able to get out of pressure in yesterday's match against South Korea. It's almost lost, but can win," said Rehan.

In the quarter-finals, Friday, March 7, 2025, Rehan/Gloria met with representatives of Malaysia again, namely sixth seed Hoo Pang Ron/Cheng Su Yin.

The pair broke into the top eight after winning the rubber game against Ming Che Lu/Hung En-Tzu from China Taipei.
