The 2026 World Cup Final Will Be Colored By Super Bowl Style Performances, Assisted By Coldplay
JAKARTA - FIFA president, Gianni Infantino, said that the 2026 World Cup final in the United States will change its tradition and hold a Super Bowl-style part-time show.
The MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, which will be known as the New York New Jersey Stadium during the tournament, was announced in February 2024 as the venue for the World Cup final on July 19, 2026.
Although the half-time gap in football matches lasted only 15 minutes, Infantino said that the list of artists would perform during a part-time show in the 2026 World Cup final.
"I can confirm the first half-time show in the FIFA World Cup final in New York New Jersey," Infantino wrote on Instagram.

"This will be a historic moment for the World Cup and a show that fits the biggest sporting event in the world."
Rapper Steve Lamar starred in this year's Super Bowl part-time show during the match between Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs in New Orleans.
Usher, Rihanna, Snoop Dogg, and The Weeknd have also been the main stars during previous Super Bowl part-time performances, which lasted up to 30 minutes due to the need to build and dismantle the stage on the ground.
FIFA or Infantino have yet to provide details on whether the 2026 World Cup final will have an extended break to accommodate the show.
Infantino said Coldplay would help advise FIFA to manufacture the show and the so-called takeover of Times Square over the past weekend.
"We are also talking about how FIFA will take over Times Square for the final weekend of the 2026 World Cup, both during third-placed and final matches," Infantino said.
"Ini akan menjadi dua pertandingan yang luar biasa, yang menampilkan beberapa pemain terbaik di dunia, dan tidak ada cara yang lebih baik untuk merayarkan selain di Times Square yang bersejarah di New York City."
"I would also like to thank Chris Martin and Phil Harvey of Coldplay, who will work with us on FIFA to complete a list of artists who will perform during the part-time show, as well as in Times Square."
