DPR Calls The Naturalization Program For National Team Players Part Of The Big Project

JAKARTA - The DPR approved the granting of naturalized citizenship of three football players of Indonesian descent, namely Joey Pelupessy, Emil Audero Mulyadi and Dean James.

Member of Commission X DPR, Habib Syarief Muhammad, mentioned that this naturalization program is part of a big project to advance Indonesian football.

He considered that the three football players would increase the strength of the Indonesian national team players in the 2026 World Cup qualifying round.

"This naturalization is part of a big project, which is expected to be able to develop the world of Indonesian football," Habib Syarief told reporters, Thursday, March 5.

"This is not a hyperbolic dream to awaken Indonesia. But this is a dream according to the reality that is expected to come true soon," he continued.

According to Habib Syarief, the ability of the three football players is proven in the European arena and has a physical that cannot be doubted. So he hopes that the three of them can complete the composition of Indonesian national team players to play up to the international level.

This naturalization is also considered capable of completing Patrick Kluivert, who has been elected as the head coach of the Indonesian national team since last January.

"This decision is a complete decision. Kluiver is an experienced person in the world of football," said Habib.

Habib believes that with this naturalization, the strength of the Indonesian national team will increase and be increasingly recognized by the world.

"Hopefully there won't be a miss understanding in the performance of Indonesian national team players. Everyone must unite with one goal for the advancement of the Indonesian football world. Nothing is impossible if everyone supports each other," he said.

Habib also appreciated the performance of the Chairman of the All-Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) Erick Thohir, who, according to him, for four years gave a breakthrough to develop football.

"Respects and appreciation to Mr. Erick for making breakthroughs for Indonesian football," he concluded
