Mercedes-Benz Tengah Prepares EV Version Of GLC, Launches Next Year?
JAKARTA - Mercedes-Benz has a strong commitment from manufacturers in increasing the line of electric vehicles. To make this happen, the manufacturer intends to present an electric version of the GLC as a model of its future.
The model will be a milestone for Mercedes-Benz in presenting a variety of powertrains in its various vehicle lines. Engineered into Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV), the electric version of the GLC will have the latest technology that offers better performance, range, efficiency, and charging speed than electric vehicles today.
VP Overall Vehicle Development & Integration Mercedes-Benz Group AG, Christoph Starzynski said the car had proven its reliability in the extreme snowy conditions in Scandinavia, as well as highlighting the quality of the SUV.
"During the winter testing in Sweden, the new all-electric GLC showed its reliability and resilience even in extreme conditions," Starzynski said on the brand's official website, Thursday, March 6.

This car has been tested intensively in snowy conditions with a mask sticker. Facing temperatures that drop well below freezing and beating snow-covered roads, this test vehicle is able to cope with the most severe natural conditions with extraordinary durability and performance.
Relying on the advanced 800V architecture, this latest EV version of the GLC will carry the battery with an impressive distance in its class.
Although the manufacturer has not disclosed its range capabilities, this luxury SUV crossover will be powered by a battery that can charge with a DC fast-charging measuring 320 kW.
In addition to the energy capacity that can be used, this battery is also different in cell chemistry. High-level battery cells use anodes with silicon oxides mixed into graphite, thus reaching a very high density of gravimetry energy.
This allows it to have a longer driving distance with a lighter battery weight, thereby increasing the efficiency and performance of its vehicles.
The electric version of the Mercedes-Benz GLC also relies on advanced driving units that display two accelerations of transmission in rear doubles drive units.
This electric version of the GLC is also supported by a 4-Matic drive, which allows it to bulldoze a wide range of terrain including snow easily. The all-wheel drive system developed by Mercedes-Benz is equipped with a powered front double drive unit, which can be activated or released quickly using a Disconnect Unit (DCU) if needed.
To ensure optimal traction and stability driving in snow and ice, sensors detect rotating wheels and distribute torques according to the operating strategy. Because both electric motors are controlled independently, the driving force is maintained optimally.
Although it did not disclose the launch time, it is estimated that Mercedes-Benz will introduce this EV version of the GLC by the end of 2025 before it is officially sold in early 2026.
