The Ministry Of Industry Facilitates Investors From Europe To China Interested In Developing The Bamboo Industry In Indonesia

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) facilitates potential investors from Europe, Germany and China who are interested in developing the bamboo industry in Indonesia.

This was conveyed by the Deputy Minister of Industry (Wamenperin) Faisol Riza in his remarks at the opening of the Indonesia International Furniture Expo (IFEX) 2025 at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta, Thursday, March 6.

"A few days ago we also facilitated potential investors from Europe, Germany and China who want to develop the bamboo industry in Indonesia as raw material," said Faisol.

Faisol said the investors had glanced at around 9 million bamboo sticks in Indonesia which were raw materials.

"There are more than 9 million bamboo sticks in Indonesia which are raw materials seen by them," he said.

Investors, said Faisol, considered that a number of bamboo sticks were better than raw materials in China. Because, he said, bamboo stems in the country have power that can be an alternative to wood.

"Because it is so dense, the tools for processing bamboo that they develop in China must be adjusted again to match the strength of bamboo in Indonesia," said Faisol.

The Deputy Minister of Industry said that Betung is one of the strongest types of bamboo to be used as a raw material for wood raw materials.

"That is one of the bamboo that is considered the strongest to be the raw material for the raw materials of wood. This is very important because the longer the wood in Indonesia is running out," he explained.

When met by the media crew on different occasions, Faisol could not specify how much investment the potential investors would spend.

However, he said, the realization of investment from potential investors will soon be realized.

"It seems that this year it is already running, they focus on East Nusa Tenggara (NTT)," he concluded.
