Turkish Crypto Bosses Take Away Rp.29 Trillion In Investor Money

JAKARTA - The boss of Turkey's largest cryptocurrency exchange, Faruk Fatih Ozer, reportedly took investors' money away to Thailand. The nominal amount of money he carries is up to Rp. 29 trillion.

The action of taking away the investors' money is suspected because the Thodex stock exchange is predicted to go bankrupt soon. As a result, hundreds of thousands of crypto investors are concerned that their funds will just disappear with Ozer.

Launching Bloomberg, said Thodex could suffer losses of US $ 2 billion or around Rp.29 trillion. The funds came from investors, both agencies and individuals, which reached 390 thousand Thodex users.

The Thodex boss gave information that he would return crypto investors' money upon his return to Turkey. Ozer also said he was ready to be punished. He uttered that statement from an unknown place.

Ozer also denied that the funds he brought with him came from 390 thousand investors. He admitted that he only took money from 30 thousand Thodex users. Until now the authorities are investigating the incident. Erdogan's government official said he wanted to regulate the crypto market.

Previously, it was reported that Ozer suddenly disappeared with Rp 29 trillion in funds. He is also rumored to be in Thailand. As a result of this incident, Ozer admitted that he was ready to close the crypto trading platform Thodex in 4 to 5 days, Thursday 22 April.

Whereas the day before, Thodex users were no longer able to enter the crypto exchange platform. Authorities reported that Faruk Fatih Ozer flew from Istanbul Airport on Tuesday afternoon. Ozer also reportedly closed all of his social media accounts.

As a result of this incident, the victims' lawyer, Abdullah Usame Ceran, filed a criminal complaint against Ozer. The lawyer also appealed to the authorities to seize platform assets including bank accounts, holdings and shares.

Launching Coinmarketcap, trading volume on Thodex itself has reached 538 million US dollars in its last trade. Thodex users have 400 thousand members. There are 391 thousand active users.
