The Joint Team For Dismantling The Smuggling Of 188 Kg Of Crystal Methamphetamine At The Aceh Tamiang Palm Oil Plantation

The joint team from the Regional Office of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise in Aceh together with the National Police revealed the storage of 188 kilograms (kg) of methamphetamine in oil palm plantations in Aceh Tamiang Regency.

Head of the Customs and Excise Facilities Division of the Regional Office of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise Aceh Leni Rahmahsari, said that in the disclosure of the prohibited items, officers arrested a perpetrator with the initials M.

"The perpetrator's mode of taking 188 kilograms of methamphetamine was in the middle of the sea using a motorboat and then hiding it in an oil palm plantation," Leni said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, March 6.

He mentioned that apart from the Regional Office team of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, the drug disclosure operation also involved the Customs Narcotics Interdictation Directorate team, Langsa Customs and Narcotics Investigation Center (NIC) Team of the National Police Headquarters.

Leni Rahmahsari said the disclosure of hundreds of kilograms of crystal methamphetamine was carried out on Tuesday (25/2). The operation began with information on an attempt to smuggle narcotics by sea which was then landed in the Aceh Tamiang Regency area.

Furthermore, the team investigated the information and increased supervision through sea and land patrols. The team finally arrested someone suspected of knowing the location of the stored prohibited items.

"Then, the team examined the person and obtained information on the location of the methamphetamine storage at an oil palm plantation in the Cinta Raja area, Bendahara District, Aceh Tamiang Regency," he said.

Furthermore, the team moved to the location mentioned and found nine sacks containing 176 packages containing methamphetamine or methamphetamine. The total weight of the prohibited items reaches 188 kilograms.

"Evidence together with the perpetrators were handed over to the Police NIC team for further investigation. This operation is a synergy between Customs and Excise and the Police. We also appreciate the work with the team involved," said Leni Rahmahsari.
