Bekasi Mayor Tri Adhianto Responds To Viral Wife Nggusi To Hotel: For Safety

BEKASI - A video showing the wife of Bekasi mayor, Wiwiek Hargono, staying at a four-star hotel when her area was hit by floods went viral on Tuesday, March 4.

The 1 minute 16 second video shows someone unloading things from the car to a hotel in the South Bekasi area.

"Guys, we are holding Mrs. Wiwiek who wants to live in a hotel because her house is flooded. Our mayor's house is flooded, so stay on Horizon," said the recorder in the video.

Responding to this, the Mayor of Bekasi, Tri Adhianto, explained that the decision to evacuate his family was for safety.

According to him, on the night of the incident, the water level in Kali Bekasi had reached 600 centimeters and the area where he lived in Kemang Pratama was at risk of drowning.

"I want to do my best for the residents. At that time, the water level was 600 cm, and I estimate Kemang Pratama will be submerged. If I survive, I cannot go out," Tri said while at Pondok Gede Permai explaining about his wife staying at the hotel during the flood, Wednesday.

Tri added that after evacuating his wife and child, he immediately returned to duty.

"In the morning at 06.00 WIB, I must have joined the residents to ensure that logistics are available. Since 22.00 WIB I have been in the field, then I went home at 02.00 WIB to pick up my wife and child," he explained regarding a viral video of his wife staying at the hotel when the flood occurred.

He also emphasized that this year's flood fatality rate is lower than 2020, thanks to the early warning system.

"In the past, in 2020, there were many cars in splits because there was no early warning system. This time, since night, I have reminded residents about the water level," he said regarding the Bekasi flood.

Finally, Tri emphasized that the decision to stay at the hotel was not for luxury, but for the safety of the family. "There is no intention of luxury," he concluded giving information about his wife staying at the hotel.
