Chinese Student Raping 10 Women In England Sentenced To Guilty, Victim Drugged

JAKARTA - Chinese students were found guilty by the London court for anesthetizing and raping 10 women in England and China.

British authorities suspect as many as 50 other women may be victims of the sexual predator.

Zhenhao Zou, 28, who lives in southern London, used an online platform and dating app to meet the woman he invited to his home under the pretext of drinking or studying before he became anesthetized them, the London Metropolitan Police (MPS) said.

He then filmed himself raping and sexually harassing the women when they were unconscious. The perpetrators also kept some of their jewelry and clothes.

Zou was found guilty of 28 offenses at the London District Court including 11 counts of rape, although authorities said they could only identify eight of his 10 victims.

"Zou is a serial rapist and is dangerous for women," said Saira Pike of the British prosecution authority.

"We are always determined to seek justice for victims who are not identified and identified in this case," he continued.

Zou is scheduled to be sentenced on June 19.

Coming from Dongguan in Guangdong Province, the student is estimated to have moved to England in 2017 and began studying for a PhD at University College London in 2019.

After a woman reported Zou, the police found drugs and hidden cameras in her house.

Meanwhile, hundreds of videos and many messages on their laptops and cellphones show the perpetrators committing crimes not only in the UK but also in their home countries.

British police, in collaboration with China's Ministry of Public Security, said some women may not be aware of their sexual crimes.

"Detective believes there may be more than 50 other women who may have been victims and have not been identified by the police," the MPS statement said.
