Prosecutor Demands Death Of Courier Of 30 Kilograms Of Shabu In Banjarmasin

BANJARMASIN - The public prosecutor (JPU) demanded the death penalty of the defendant, a courier of 30 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine named Amsyah Yadhi alias Yadi during a trial at the Banjarmasin District Court, South Kalimantan.

"The defendant Amsyah Yadhi alias Yadi has been sentenced to death," said Public Prosecutor Ariyanti as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, March 5.

According to the prosecutor, the defendant's actions were as regulated and threatened with criminal penalties in accordance with Article 114 paragraph (2) of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.

After reading the demands from the prosecutor, the panel of judges also gave the defendant the opportunity to submit a memorandum of defense or plea at the next trial next week.

Previously, the defendant was arrested by a team led by the Head of Sub-Directorate 3 of the Narcotics Directorate of the South Kalimantan Police AKBP Ade Harri Sistiawan on August 2, 2024, on Jalan Governor Soebarjo, Tambak Sirang Darat Village, Gambut District, Banjar Regency.

The evidence was confiscated by officers when they arrested Amsyah Yadhi in the form of 30 packages of crystal methamphetamine with a gross weight of 30,510.00 grams, 4,832 pills of Spinx brand ecstasy with a net pink color of 3,689.24 grams and a pack of spinx brand ecstasy flakes with a net weight of 13.91 grams.

Ironically, the perpetrator admitted that he was only given a reward of Rp. 200 thousand to get narcotics and was ordered to hand it over to someone.

However, before the perpetrator met the person who was going to receive the narcotics, he was immediately arrested by the police.
