YLBHI Suspects There Is A Network Of Case Brokers At The KPK
JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI) Asfinawati suspects that there are cases of sale and purchase internally at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). This suspicion was strengthened after a KPK investigator from the police, Stepanus Robin Pattuju, became the broker for a corruption case.
"Today's news shows there is a high probability of a case trafficking network," Asfinawati said in a virtual discussion broadcast on YouTube, Friday, April 23.
He also suspected that this action could not only be the act of a few people, but also systemic.
"This is not the doing of one or two people," he insisted.
Not only this ongoing case, Asfinawati also offended the KPK Task Force member, IGA, who was caught stealing gold from the confiscated goods storage room.
With the presence of two KPK employees caught in legal cases, this shows that the KPK Law Number 19 of 2019, which is a revision of the previous law, does not guarantee the integrity of the anti-graft institution.
"After the formation of the KPK Supervisory Board, which was predicted to make the KPK have integrity, there is actually this problem," he said.
"(This case, red) denies the pretext of revising the KPK Law to make the KPK more integrity," added Asfinawati.
So, in the future, Asfinawati asked the KPK to seriously evaluate their internal system. The goal is that the cases that ensnared Stepanus and the IGA will no longer be repeated.
Previously reported, the KPK named an investigator, namely Stepanus Robin Pattuju (SRP) and the Mayor of Tanjungbalai M Syahrial (MS) as bribery suspects related to the handling of corruption cases. In addition, the KPK also named another suspect who was a lawyer, namely Maskur Husain (MH).
The three of them became suspects in a bribery case related to the handling of the Tanjungbalai Mayor's corruption case.
After this case, KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri confirmed that he would make repairs inside. This is done to close the loopholes for criminal acts such as those committed by police investigator Stepanus Robin Pattuju, who is a suspect in brokering a corruption case.
"We will conduct a study to make improvements," said KPK chairman Firli Bahuri in a press conference broadcast on the KPK RI YouTube account, Thursday night, April 22.
The study will later improve various admissions systems, from recruitment to employee coaching. "Is it related to human resources or other resources, including facilities and infrastructure," he said.
Furthermore, the former Deputy for Corruption Eradication of the Corruption Eradication Commission emphasized that his party was not allergic to changes and even supported if these changes were intended for good. Moreover, the attitude of the supervisory board, leadership, and KPK employees is a reflection of determining whether the anti-corruption commission is good or bad in the eyes of the public.
"We are not allergic to improvements and we support a change. Change is inevitable. If we want to be good, we have to make changes, if we want to be perfect we have to do it," he said.
