Satpol PP Secures 2 West Acehnese Who Are Caught Not Fasting Ramadan

West Aceh Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP WH) officers arrested two youths with the initials AD (19) and AR (18) because they were caught not fasting in the holy month of Ramadan 1446 Hijriah/2025 AD.

"We arrested these two youths drinking at a cafe in the Ujung Karang Meulaboh Tourism Beach area during the day," said Head of Wilayatul Hisbah Division of the West Aceh Regency Satpol PP Service, Lazuan, as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, March 5.

According to him, the arrests of the two youths were carried out by officers, who happened to be carrying out routine patrols during the day during the holy month of Ramadan.

Based on the statements of the two residents, said Lauzan, they admitted that they deliberately did not fast during the day without clear reasons.

Both admitted that they came from their residence in Padang Sikabu to Meulaboh, to repair the phone and agreed not to fast," said Lazuan.

The two young men were arrested by the WH police for recklessly drinking packaged drinks in an open area, when Muslims were fasting during Ramadan.

Lazuan said the two actions violated Qanun Number 11 of 2002 concerning Aqidah, Worship and Islamic Syiar Articles 10 paragraphs (1) and (2).

Article (1) clearly states that every person / business entity is prohibited from providing facilities / opportunities for Muslims who do not have the syar'i age not to fast during the month of Ramadan.

Article (2) states that every Muslim who does not have a syar'i age is prohibited from eating and drinking in public at noon during the month of Ramadan.

Because they have only committed violations once, said Lazuan, the two young men are subject to light sanctions in the form of having to sign a statement, not to repeat the same actions in the future.

"If the same violations are found in the future, both of them will be subject to sanctions in accordance with applicable regulations regarding Islamic law in Aceh," said Lazuan.

According to him, since the beginning of Ramadan 1446 Hijri, his party has also secured two youths who did not fast in the holy month of Ramadan, in the Ujung Karang Meulaboh Tourism Beach area on Wednesday (5/3) afternoon.

"This is done as an effort to prevent violations of Islamic law that have been in effect for a long time in Aceh," he said.
