Dillian Whyte Resigns, Joe Joyce Against Filip Hrgovic

JAKARTA Joe Joyce will enter the ring against Filip Hrgovic after Dillian Whyte is confirmed to have withdrawn from their fight due to an injury to his finger.

Joyce and Whyte were previously scheduled to have 12 rounds of fighting at the top of the Queensberry Promotions card at the Co-op Live Arena, Manchester, England, on April 5, 2025.

Whyte then withdrew due to a wound to his finger. However, Joyce will remain the main performer in a heavyweight fight that will also feature Lawrence Okolie versus Richard Riakporhe and Delicious Orange's professional debut.

The Sun reports Joyce will get Filip Hrgovic as a substitute. This is a rematch after the two met in a 2013 amateur fight, which Joyce won with separate decisions.

Joyce has prepared well for a duel with Whyte. It was an ideal and important game after he swallowed three painful defeats in his last four matches, which broke a record of never losing to him.

The first two defeats were suffered in a row against Chinese champion Zhilei Zhang, respectively in April and September 2023. He was then defeated by Derek Chisora in July 2024.

On the other hand, Whyte needs a tough opponent after being caught in a drug test failure problem.

The Body Snatcher should have secured a great rematch against Anthony Joshua at the O2 Arena, London, England.

According to reports, tickets for the fight were sold out in August 2023. However, he failed the VADA (Voluntary Anti-Doping Association) test so the fight was canceled and Robert Helenius had to replace him.

Whyte then bounced back through a fight that was not broadcast on television in Ireland in March 2024 and fought fiercely against Ebenezer Tetteh in December 2024 in Malta.
