President Zelensky Orders Defense Ministers To Find Accurate Information About US Military Assistance
JAKARTA - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Tuesday he had ordered defense ministers and other officials to secure accurate information about military supplies after the United States announced the halt to aid.
"I have ordered the defense minister of Ukraine, intelligence chief, and diplomats to contact their colleagues in the United States and obtain official information," President Zelensky said in his evening video address.
"People should not be left guessing," he continued.
He further said, maintaining "normal partnerships with America are essential to really end the war. Neither of us wants an endless war."
President Zelensky said Ukraine was seeking "constructive cooperation and a true partnership" with Washington, once again expressing regret over the fierce exchange of opinion during its meeting last week in the Oval Room, White House, Washington.
"What happened at the White House, instead of the negotiations we planned, is very regrettable," he said.
"But we must find the power to move forward, respect each other, as we have always respected America," President Zelensky said.
Kyiv's leader also noted that Russia, which has been at war for more than three years, has not changed its position towards Ukraine.
"They will demand a reduction in the number of our soldiers, they will want the legal release of our territory as well as significant political deformation against the Ukrainian constitution," he explained.
"In fact, as long as we are in Ukraine united and strong, as long as we are here, no one will succeed in this. Our peace will be dignified," President Zelensky said.
