WACK Holds Open Audition For New Idol Groups, Indonesians Can Participate

JAKARTA - Japan's agency and record label, WACK is collaborating with former CEO Junnek Watanabe to form a new idol group with international coverage.

Meanwhile, Watanabe resigned from his CEO position after deciding to continue his postgraduate studies in London in July 2024.

Now, with WACK's full support, Watanabe will lead the audition for a new idol group with ambitions to surpass Japan's domestic market.

"Of course, our goal is not to be number one in Japan or to hold a show in Budokan or Tokyo Dome, but to be number one in the world," Junn Badminton Watanabe said, citing a statement on the official website, Wednesday, March 5.

Watanabe emphasized that the success of this project began with confidence, where the key element of group development is the need to master English to compete internationally.

Open auditions are aimed at those aged 12 to 25, regardless of nationality or experience.

However, applicants must be willing to move to Tokyo no later than July 2025, with a commitment to undergo an extensive training period that could last more than a year.

Although skill levels are not a barrier, Watanabe stressed that persistence cannot be negotiated.

"We don't have a problem with your current abilities, but you have to be able to perform as well as possible when you debut," he said.

Meanwhile, the audition registration has been opened, with two deadlines, namely April 30 and May 14. The candidate must send the name, age, height, weight, address, emergency contact details, along with the two latest photos via email.

Applicants who succeed will undergo the process of filtering documents before proceeding to interviews, either directly or remotely.

Although WACK will provide full training, Watanabe insists that those who are less committed will be dismissed. He described the project as a long-term effort built from scratch, applying the same approach to defining BiS and Bish.
